BN1 Arts is a new Brighton based college that will be running Level 3 courses in Performing Arts and Music.
Mia Bird is the founder of Bird Studios, BRICTT and ICTheatre and has a long career in music and theatre. She is the founder and creative director of BN1 Arts.
BN1 Arts will be located in Central Brighton in the current home of the performing arts diploma run by ICTheatre.
BN1 Arts will run a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts and a Level 3 Extended Diploma in The Creative Music Industry
The qualification for year 1 is a Subsidiary Diploma and 2 years of successful study will gain you an Extended Diploma equivalent to 3 A Levels
RSL is the awarding body for our courses. They ensure academically rigorous and industry-relevant qualifications designed to support all aspiring musicians, performers, educators and teaching establishments.
RSL Diploma qualifications are graded pass, merit and distinction and are similar to BTEC qualifications in this way.
The course is fully funded for students aged 16-18 years UK students or those who have been resident for 3 years or more with settled status.
If you are 16-18 on 31st August in the academic year you are applying for the course is fully-funded.
BN1 Arts is not connected to BIMM, however we are proud to have BIMM's seal of approval.
Yes we will be having open days, we will keep you notified of these.
Yes we will be having taster days, we will keep you notified of these.
We will be using the same community of specialist tutors from BIMM and ICTheatre but also be welcoming many industry professionals.
If you have already auditioned for BIMM or ICTheatre you will not be required to audition again.
Yes we will ask you to sign a contract with BN1 Arts
We require 4 GCSE's at 4 or above to include Maths and English or 3 GCSE's with Maths or English on the basis the other will be resat.
Yes we will offer Maths and English resits
Term will begin on 18/9/23 however there will be induction to attend the week before.
BN1 Arts has a dedicated student support team, Our Student Support team is available for one-to-one tutorial sessions to discuss anything you may be struggling with.
We are available to help if you are struggling with your coursework or if you have told us about a special educational need you may have.
Yes, a designated SEND manager can liaise directly with the local authority to ensure your needs are met.
We have an experienced team who regularly undertake extensive and ongoing training. Our student support officers are well placed to look after you if you are in need, or to refer your to local support services if necessary.
As BN1 Arts is a new course there is no second year for 2023 entry.
We are proud to be supported by many big names in the music and theatre industries. Our tutors are industry professionals, many of whom are still working in the industry today.
Yes we will run masterclasses each term.
We have fantastic facilities including up to date music equipment and instruments, a recording studio, large dance studios with sprung flooring and full length mirrors as well as a black box studio theatre. An IT suite and break out space.
Yes, shows and live performances are a fundamental component of our courses. We will provide numerous opportunities throughout the year.
Yes we will help you with your progression plan as well as offer careers tutorials with advisors. We will support you throughout your UCAS journey if you apply to Uni.
Yes, Level 3 RSL qualifications carry UCAS points.
Yes, BN1 Arts teachers are practising professionals in the performing arts and music industries. They bring their knowledge and expertise into the classroom.
