Course Overview
The BN1 Arts Extended Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts is a two-year course designed specifically for the training dancer, actor and musical theatre performer. This highly practical, vocational course will develop performance skills, exploring and improving the techniques required in a contemporary professional theatre or dance environment.
Over the two years of your training, you will get to perform and gain a real understanding of the way the industry operates. You will be guided by our specialist tutors and industry professionals to help steer you towards the next step in your journey, whether that be on to a degree course at one of many well-known drama schools or directly into the industry.
Successful completion of the course will gain you a nationally recognised RSL Extended Diploma qualification in Creative and Performing Arts, equivalent to three A-levels. This is ideal for taking your first steps into a career in the industry or continuing your training at degree level.

Final award: RSL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts
Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above to include Maths and English Language, or 3 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above to include Maths OR English on the basis that the other one will be retaken.
You will also need to attend an audition to demonstrate you have the skills required to succeed on a course like this.

There are 3 pathways that sit under the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. You choose which pathway you want to apply for…and we’ll do the rest.
Your week will be split between all three aspects of musical theatre performance. One of the highlights of this course is “Projects Class” which runs throughout the term, working towards an end of term performance. Whether this be in-house or at an external theatre or venue, you will have the opportunity to perform in fully staged musicals and showcases getting to do what you love.

On the Dance Artistry & Performance pathway you will spend your week working on strengthening technical skills in a variety of core and specialist dance styles.
We understand that dancers are incredibly hard working and diligent, often taking classes from a young age and outside of school. So this course is designed to push you, and develop you as a dance artist. You will work towards end of term performances in-house, external venues and on camera.
Alongside the core dance techniques, you will also engage with a variety of additional skills, such as portfolio compilation, and social media and promotion to help you as a dance artist, develop a deeper understanding of the wider dance industry as both part of a business and as an independent entrepreneur.

BN1 is thrilled to be able to offer one of the only routes of study specialised for young actors and theatre-makers.
On the Acting & Theatre Making pathway you will work as an ensemble with your fellow students in a highly practical and intensive environment working towards end of term productions, plays and digital performances.
You will learn the cutting-edge skills required to thrive in this exciting industry. This is an industry that requires performers to move between classical and contemporary work as well as be devisers, movers, immersive performers and work on screen.
With an emphasis on Acting for Camera, this pathway will ensure you have the skills needed to move into Higher Education. We have seen previous students go on to some of the top drama schools in the country.
